The Thrillpeddlers are a company of artists,
actors, writers, musicians, and technicians
dedicated to creating a new era of live horror
theatre and events in the tradition of Le Theatre du Grand Guignol. Founded by Russell Blackwood and Daniel Zilber, and based in San
Francisco, Thrillpeddlers are continuously engaged in the development of new works and
special effects for the stage. In addition to original scripts, Thrillpeddlers perform
classic turn-of-the-century
Grand Guignol plays and modern works by
contemporary masters of the genre. Selected productions include: The Laboratory
of Hallucinations ('91), Walk on the Wild Side ('92) with Warhol Superstar
Holly Woodlawn, and a collaboration with playwright Eric Bentley on a staged reading of
his play Round 2 ('93). In 1996, they teamed up with Clive Barker for the
American premiere of his play Frankenstein in Love, complete with a fan dance
choreographed by topless legend, Carol Doda. 1997 saw the premiere of Mondo Andronicus
which went on to be chosen Best of the San Francisco Fringe Festival.
