1997 San Francisco Fringe Festival
WINNER -- "Best of the Fringe!"

Adapted from
Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare

Conceived and Directed by Russell Blackwood

Shakespeare's bloodiest tragedy slashed to one hour of carnal delight. Tamora, Queen of the Goths (Helen Shumaker of Mona Rogers in Person), and Aaron "the Barbarous Moor," wreak havoc on the Andronicus clan. Director Russell Blackwood and company distill Shakespeare's pariah into a fusion of Elizabethan poetry, Mondo film shock- sploitation, Grand Guignol gore, and the pulse of a live jungle mix (by DJ Theta-Blip).

"Thrillpeddlers' fast-forward version of Shakespeare's gorefest revels in the story's unbelievably abusive violence... Russell Blackwood's direction is exuberantly ghoulish." --S.F. Bay Guardian
